"How to get to Chianti": visit and tasting at Castello di Ama

 1.5 hours  From 1 to 8 persons

Another key question… Especially to get to Ama. However, we do not speak of directions, but of history and tradition. The hills surrounding the Castello di Ama, and on which we have our vineyards, deserve the degree of terroir since 1700. As such, this land gives a strong connotation to each variety. Our historic Pinot Noir, the recent haiku…: even where Sangiovese is not in the majority, its voice is heard. But it is not possible to overthrow the landlord: “Castello di Ama San Lorenzo”, our most representative “Chianti Classico Gran Selezione”.

At the end of the visit, which lasts about 1 hour, you can start the journey among the international varieties, and then finally arrive home!

The village of Ama lies in the heart of the Chianti Classico wine region, within the municipality of Gaiole in Chianti, one of the three historic towns of the Lega del Chianti. Its origins date back to the Middle Ages, and as early as the late 18th century, Grand Duke Pietro Leopoldo of Tuscany praised its land as being "kept in marvelous condition," recognizing its exceptional agricultural vocation.

Located one hour by car from Florence and half an hour from Siena, Ama is a place where time seems to stand still, surrounded by rolling hills, vineyards, and centuries-old olive groves.

In 1976, four families from Rome chose Ama as the home of Castello di Ama, embarking on an ambitious project to restore this land to its former glory. On the southern slope of the hill, they built the winery, the beating heart of the estate’s wine production.

The village has preserved its authentic charm, with rustic dwellings and two grand 18th-century villas: Villa Pianigiani, which now houses the Enoteca and Ristoro, and Villa Ricucci, a residence steeped in history and memory.

Completing this place of tradition and beauty is the Arca building, the new welcome center for visitors, located next to the parking area nestled among the olive trees of Bellavista—the first step in discovering Ama.
